Ivy is the shiest member of Dio.
He began by playing the guitar before realizing that the guitarists were very advanced in the band (on stage). He decided to tryed to the bass, establishing so solidly the heart of the group without being too much advanced for all that.

He played in Grevious before forming Dio with Mikaru.
He tells to have answered the announcement of Mikaru because he seemed 'Mikaru is different than the others'.
